To uphold the noble rank of her family, He Yan (played by Zhou Ye), the eldest daughter of the He family, is forced to put on a mask and disguise as the eldest son He Rufei. Young Yan first meets the talented Xiao Jue (played by Ryan Cheng) in Xianchang Academy. Later, to escape her fate, she resolutely leaves the academy and goes to the battlefield. Many years later, Yan returns home in glory, only to be framed by her family because of the return of her brother Rufei. Yan survives the crisis and changes her identity, transforming into He Yan, the daughter of the city gate’s deputy commander. She disguises as a man and goes to Yezhou to join the army, determined to get back everything that belongs to her. Yan befriends the gentle Chu Zhao, and even reunites with Jue. However, Jue suspects that Yan is a spy and targets her at every turn. After repeated tests, Yan clings to Jue and proves her ability by ranking first in the Yezhou Army. Through several near-death experiences, such as the Sun family incident, the Jiyang Princess incident, and the battle to defend the city of Rundu, they find love and comfort in each other.
