Synopsis：During the Republic of China era, a master-apprentice pair, Ma Wencai and Zhang Xiaohou, made a living in the south by posing as spiritual masters and swindling people. They accidentally got involved in a murder case and were wrongly accused of being the killers. To clear their names, they had to stay and find the real culprit. A series of strange events seemed to confirm the previous ominous rumors, while Zhang Xiaohou discovered that his recent experiences were related to a dream that had haunted him for years.
