Synopsis：In the 1990s, Xining was surrounded by barren mountains to the north and south, plagued by wind and sand. A group of young people from Qinghai Machine Tool Factory—the disheartened Lin Mingshan, the persistent Huang Qiuying, the honest Zhu Youcai, and the shrewd Ma Benteng—were driven by fate to join a greening project. They explored effective tree-planting methods in the harsh, cold, and arid conditions, enduring the grief of fallen comrades and the trials of misunderstandings and conflicts. Ultimately, through their wisdom and decades of perseverance, they transformed the barren land into lush mountains and clear waters. The film tells a touching story of two generations carrying forward the mission, recreating the miracle of greening the northern and southern mountains of Xining, and paying tribute to the hardworking, dedicated builders of an ecological civilization.
