Synopsis：In the winter of 1939, a regiment of the Eighth Route Army of the Shandong Military Region is encircled by Japanese troops. More than half of the Special Agent Detachment are killed as the three palaces’ formations are attacked. They use the rally call as an order, covering the main force's breakout and refusing to retreat until death. Detachment commander Liu Shangzhi leads 48 soldiers to retaliate and fight to the death with the Japanese army. They repel several Japanese attacks and eventually defeat the Japanese conspiracy. All 48 soldiers die heroically, and no one survives.
