Synopsis：While studying abroad in the U.S., Shi Lu's divorced father remarried quietly back home, shifting his focus to his new wife and newborn son, Cody. This created a rift between father and daughter. The unattainable familial affection left a scar on Shi Lu's heart. She tried to find a sense of belonging through work, only to face a visa crisis. At a dead end, her estranged father suddenly called, asking her to arrange for her half-brother Cody to come to the U.S. for Hepatitis C treatment. In order to leverage her American-born brother for a short-term work visa, Shi Lu reluctantly agreed. Cody's need for and dependence on her gave Shi Lu a taste of long-lost family bonds.
