Synopsis：Africa is often called the cradle of life. Though the flora and fauna of the African plains are being encroached upon by human settlement, much of the Serengeti and other parts of the continent remain wild, an open-air laboratory in which survival of the fittest can be seen on a daily basis. Evolution is clearly at work as species goes up against other species, giving the scientifically curious a chance to see how adaptations can afford one species an advantage over the others. This two-part educational series, part of a wider set of documentaries that focus on applications of mathematical concepts and patterns in the real world, analyzes how mammalian evolution plays out by looking at the numbers behind the animals and their development. In essence, searching for a mathematical design in the biology of the creatures found in the wild.
