Synopsis：During the Republican era, the dimly lit opera house in Taiping County is staging a play for the "Ghost King of Yin Mountain" during the Ghost Festival. It happened to be the birthday of police captain Fang Jingru (played by Zhang Zijian)'s birthday, and his son distracted the drama crew to overtake the opera house for his father's birthday celebration. While everyone is in a joyful mood, a burning living man falls from the stage–just like how the Ghost King was burned during the Ghost Festival. At the same time, the paper figures and the Ghost King's tablets under the stage also burst into flames instantly. Fang Jingru is furious and starts to investigate the matter, and Xu Sijiu (played by Liu Zhiyang), the head of Fengtian's pagoda store, is also forced to get involved. As the case progresses, Xu Sijiu, the main character of the story, witnesses a tragedy and finally finds the answer behind it......
