Synopsis：When young, Zhang Ling was upright and selfless, serving as the magistrate of Fengyi County. After vicious monsters began wreaking havoc in the county, plunging the people into misery and suffering, Zhang Ling was deeply distressed by the chaos. He set out to seek the path of immortality and eventually encountered 太上老君 (Lord Laozi), who imparted to him the 三天正法 (Three Heavens Orthodox Dharma) and bestowed upon him divine elixirs and celestial artifacts to vanquish the monsters for the people's sake. Having mastered the teachings, Zhang Ling joined forces with a chivalrous maiden named 雍蓉, sent by the emperor, and together they returned to Fengyi County, exterminated the monsters, and saved the common folk. Later generations revered him as 张天师 (Heavenly Master Zhang).
