They either plundered merchant ships at sea or harassed coastal residents, plunging the people into hardship and suffering. The film focuses on the story of General Lan Li (1647-1720) during the Kangxi era (whose life is recorded in the "Draft History of Qing"). It highlights his youth, where he strived to improve himself, honed his skills, bravely fought pirates, and joined the military to suppress rebellions.
