It turns out that the Pavilion’s initial assassination of Hang Zhiyu was meant to eliminate remnants of Prince Ning’s faction, but later the goal became obtaining a ledger in Hang Zhiyu’s possession—the evidence of the Grand Chancellor’s corruption. To protect Hang Zhiyu, Mu Qing is slashed by Zui Lan’s blade, which is coated with the world’s deadliest poison, “Three No Laughs.” With little time left to live, Mu Qing resolutely returns to the Yizheng Pavilion to fight Lord Jue to the death.
