Synopsis：Introverted and steady Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) meets spontaneous and free-spirited Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet) at a party, and the two become a couple. Like any ordinary couple, their days are filled with both sweet moments and arguments. On the eve of Valentine's Day 2004, when Joel carefully prepares a gift and goes to apologize to Clementine after a recent quarrel, he is shocked to find that Clementine doesn't remember him at all. It turns out that the impulsive Clementine, unable to bear the pain of their arguments, had gone to "Lacuna Inc." and had all memories of Joel erased. Unable to forgive Clementine's impulsiveness and unable to endure the pain of losing her, Joel also goes to Lacuna Inc. and asks Dr. Howard Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson) to erase his memories of Clementine. The memory erasure process begins, and Joel wanders through his own memories. He discovers that the time he spent with Clementine—whether painful or sweet—is precious, and he does not want to forget the woman he deeply loves. However, once the process starts, it cannot be reversed. Joel can only try to hide Clementine in the deepest corners of his memory, in places and times where she never actually existed in reality, in order to preserve their love...
